Two men shot in fight at remote property in NSW Hunter

Two men, who police believe are brothers, have been taken to hospital with critical injuries after a shooting on a remote property in the NSW Hunter region.

Police were called to a property at Bingleburra Road, Bingleburra, after reports of a shooting at about midday.

One man, aged 35, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The younger man, aged 28, had run away from the scene but was found nearby with a gunshot wound to his head, believed to be self-inflicted.

The two men were treated at the scene by NSW ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.

Both men are in a critical condition, a spokeswoman for NSW Health said.

Police from the Port Stephens-Hunter district have set up a crime scene and are investigating what happened.

Police are describing the incident as domestic-related.
