An emergency warning has been issued for blaze burning in the shires of Mundaring and Northam, east of Perth, as firefighters work to protect lives and homes.
The warning was issued for people in an area bounded by Great Southern Highway, Horton Road, Chinganning Road, Inkpen Road and Woottating Nature Reserve in parts of The Lakes, Copley and Woottating in the shires of Northam and Mundaring.
Residents in those areas have been warned they need to act immediately to survive.
Homes on Chinganning Road, Wariin Road and Horton Road are under immediate threat.
At least one vehicle is believed to have been destroyed by the fire.

Authorities said the fire is out of control, unpredictable and is moving fast in a south-easterly direction.
Bushfire advice has been issued for people in an area bounded by Great Eastern Highway, Inkpen Road, Chinganning Road, Horton Road and Great Eastern Highway in parts of The Lakes, Copley, Woottating and Wooroloo in the shires of Northam and Mundaring.
The blaze started near the intersection of Horton Road and Great Southern Highway in The Lakes.
It was reported to authorities just after 1:00pm on Wednesday.
Acacia Prison was in the emergency fire zone, but is now in the area downgraded to advice level.
The Department of Justice issued a statement saying Corrective Services staff were in close contact with fire authorities.
