County Championship – day two radio and text

Surrey’s Will Jacks was delighted to achieve his goal of a maiden first-class century as they piled up 420-9 on day one against Kent at Beckenham – having been 65-5 at one stage.

“Scoring a Championship hundred was something I really wanted to tick off this season. It was really pleasing to achieve that, even more so for us to get through until stumps with 400 on the board,” Jacks said.

“Every time you go out to bat against a new ball it’s going to nip around. You know that’s a given. Sometimes you play and miss, other times you nick it. That’s cricket, so I had my little bit of luck.”

Rikki Clarke has the chance to follow Jacks to three figures when he resumes on 87 not out – but only has number 11 Conor McKerr for company.
