A person has died, two more are in hospital and a major police operation is continuing in Sydney’s southern suburbs.

Police are at multiple crime scenes in Arncliffe, Rockdale and Yagoona.

In Rockdale, a man in his 20s was stabbed at the scene of a four-vehicle crash. He and a woman were taken to hospital.

Four ambulance crews are also at the crash, which happened outside Fitness First on the corner of Lindsay and West Botany streets.

In nearby Arncliffe, police are at a crime scene where one person is dead near an abandoned taxi.

A New South Wales Ambulance spokesperson said the driver of the truck involved in the accident at Rockdale produced a knife and started fighting another man.

The truck driver then entered a taxi and fled the scene, the spokesperson said.

Bystanders were seen trying to help the stabbed man.

More to come.
