Man shot by police in Brisbane after ‘threatening officers’ with knives

A 16-year-old boy has been shot by police and is recovering in hospital after he allegedly threatened officers with knives during a confrontation on Brisbane’s southside.

Officers were called to Banksia Circuit at Forest Lake on reports of a disturbance at about 3:20am.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson the boy was shot in the stomach after he “came at police” armed with two knives.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where he was being treated under police guard.

A crime scene was declared at the property and forensic officers had been brought in to comb the area.

Investigations into the incident are still underway.
